Licensing Policy
The "Governance Accounting Archive Review" (GAAR) offers authors two licensing options for their published articles:
- Non-exclusive License: Under this option, GAAR grants a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish the article in print and electronic format, including online and in databases. Authors retain copyright of their work and may reproduce it for non-commercial purposes, provided they cite the original publication in GAAR. Commercial use requires permission from GAAR.
- CC BY-NC-ND License: This Creative Commons license allows for non-commercial reuse of the article, but prohibits modifications and requires attribution to the original authors and GAAR. This option allows for wider dissemination of the work while maintaining author control and ensuring proper citation.
2. Author Choice
Authors will be asked to choose their preferred license when submitting their article for publication. GAAR encourages authors to consider their own needs and preferences when making this decision. If unsure, authors can consult with the editorial team for guidance.
3. License Rights and Responsibilities
- Non-exclusive License: Authors retain all rights to their work, including the right to submit it to other publications after a designated embargo period. GAAR may publish the article in print and electronic format, and may make it available through third-party databases and platforms.
- CC BY-NC-ND License: Authors retain copyright but grant permission for non-commercial reuse, remixing, and adaptation of the article, as long as attribution is provided and the original work is not modified. GAAR may publish the article in print and electronic format, and may make it available through third-party platforms under the same license terms.
4. Embargo Period
For articles published under the non-exclusive license, GAAR requests a six-month embargo period before authors can submit their work to other publications. This allows GAAR readers exclusive access to the article for a reasonable period.
5. Open Access Policy
GAAR is committed to making its content freely available to the public. All articles are published online without charge, and authors are encouraged to deposit their work in institutional repositories or other open access platforms.
